Israel's military said troops fired "warning shots" on Wednesday after a diplomatic delegation deviated from an approved route during a visit to the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.
"The delegation deviated from the approved route and entered an area where they were not authorized to be," the military said in a statement, adding that "soldiers operating in the area fired warning shots."
The incident prompted condemnation from the Palestinian Authority, which denounced the use of live fire. The Israeli military confirmed that no injuries were reported and added that it "regrets the inconvenience caused."
