School bus suicide attack kills at least five in Pakistan

Five people, including three students, were killed and dozens injured when terrorists targeted a school bus in Pakistan's Khuzdar district in southwestern Balochistan province on Wednesday, according to the Pakistani military.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the military, condemned the attack on "innocent school-going children," vowing to track down and bring to justice the "planners, abettors, and executors" behind the bombing.

Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti confirmed that a suicide bomber detonated an explosive-laden vehicle near the school bus in the Zero Point area, killing five and injuring at least 40 others, including students and staff, Xinhua reported.

Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies quickly arrived at the scene, transferring the injured to nearby hospitals. Authorities have launched a full investigation and sealed off the area.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, calling the bombing of a school bus "deeply inhumane."

"No efforts will be spared to thwart the nefarious intentions of terrorists to disrupt the peace of Balochistan," the prime minister said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
