The Taklimakan Rally held its second special stage in Aksu Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Thursday. During the first major desert section of this year's race, competitors pushed their limits in search of victory.
The 115-kilometer route in Alar was added to the race for the first time this year. The course features soft dunes, unpredictable terrain, and complex topography that tests both vehicle control and navigation precision.
Despite competing with a fever and headache, the Hoto Factory Racing Team's Czech rider Martin Michek claimed first place for the second straight day in a time of 2:39:51 in the motorcycle division.
In the car category, Gansu TV Chiyue Sports Racing Team driver Zhang Biaobiao and navigator Wang Xiaofeng prove fastest as they finished in 2:31:07.
Four-time champion Han Wei and co-driver Ma Li optted for a steady approach as they completed the course in 2:36:22. Friday's third special stage features a 335-kilometer route in Keping that is expected to further challenge the field.
