Elon Musk's X, formerly known as Twitter, was down for tens of thousands of users in the United States on Saturday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
There were more than 25,000 incidents of people reporting issues with the social media platform as of 8:39 a.m. EDT (1239 GMT), according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources.
The hashtag "#TwitterDown" has been trending on social media.
We at CGTN Digital tried to access x.com at around 9:30 p.m. Beijing Time (1330 GMT) and only part of the service worked. We could see our own posts but the timeline was not always showing, with the notice "Something went wrong. Try reloading" appearing every now and then.
The posting of some CGTN-owned X accounts were affected and have gone back to normal.
