Often referred to as the "Paradise Island" of the Pacific, the Republic of Nauru is located in the central Pacific Ocean, about 42 kilometers south of the equator. It consists of a single, independent coral reef island and its surrounding waters. As one of the smallest countries in the world, Nauru has no capital. Its administrative center is located in the district of Yaren.
