The Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting took place in Xiamen, Fujian Province, from May 28 to 29. 

As a key side event, the "China-PICs Dialogue: Pacific Partnerships for Prosperity”roundtable dialogue gathered diplomats from five Pacific Island nations – Niue, the Federated States of Micronesia, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Fiji – to discuss bilateral cooperation and future development.

Dalton Tagelagi, Niue's prime minister and foreign minister, noted that since establishing diplomatic ties 50 years ago, the relationship between Niue and China has been built on mutual understanding and respect. 
He also stressed his country's support for the one-China principle.

Lorin Robert, foreign secretary of the Federated States of Micronesia, described the comprehensive strategic partnership as mature and expressed willingness to enhance cooperation in five areas: mutual sovereignty respect, sustainable development and climate action, people-to-people exchanges, trade and diplomatic alignment through dialogue.

Vanuatu's Foreign Minister, Marc Ati, said his country highly recognizes China's vision of building a community with a shared future with Pacific Island countries. He expressed hopes for expanded cooperation with China in infrastructure, health, agriculture, climate and trade.

Justin Tkatchenko, Papua New Guinea's foreign minister, affirmed China's role as a positive force for his country's development. He said Papua New Guinea actively participates in the Belt and Road Initiative and aims for a closer partnership with China.

Lenora Qereqeretabua, Fiji's assistant foreign minister, said China understands Fiji's national identity, people, culture, and traditions, and Fiji reciprocates in kind.

Discussions also covered topics such as poverty alleviation and education. 

Tkatchenko highlighted an agricultural project proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, citing Juncao cultivation as a success story that opened markets. He further emphasized the historical bond since World War II and the "China-Papua New Guinea Friendship School," which trains over 3,000 students annually, fostering young talent.

At the end of the dialogue, all parties expressed optimism and a strong commitment to deepening ties with China.
