Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, chaired the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province, on May 28 and 29. Foreign ministers or representatives from 11 Pacific Island countries having diplomatic relations with China attended the meeting upon invitation.

Tongan youth Semisi Latu introduces his country to CGTN Stringer. Located in the South Pacific, Tonga is composed of around 170 islands with a population of just over 100,000 people. Culture and tradition play a big role in the local community, while the key values of being a Tongan are mutual respect, sharing, humility and loyalty. As a student at Beijing Language and Culture University, Semisi was first exposed to Chinese culture in 2011. Sharing his favorite Chinese films, pop music singers and food, he highlights his love with China. "I hope the relationship between China and Tonga continues to grow and enjoys smooth progress in their relationship with fruitful outcomes and mutually-beneficial cooperation," Semisi says.
