China celebrated its ninth National Science and Technology Workers' Day on Friday with the main event held in Beijing. The gathering brought together more than 400 participants, including leading scientists, family members of pioneering researchers.

This year's event focused on promoting the spirit of scientists, aiming to establish National Science and Technology Workers' Day as a highly recognizable hallmark of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and a socially influential occasion. It also sought to foster a strong public atmosphere of support for scientific development and care for scientific talent across society.

"The blueprint for building a strong science and technology nation by 2035 has already been laid out," Wan Gang, the CAST president, said at the event.

He called on the science and technology workers to shoulder their responsibilities in serving national strategies, transform traditional knowledge into modern innovation, leverage emerging technologies to reinvigorate the spirit of innovation in the new era, and contribute to national development while boosting both cultural and technological confidence.

May 30 also marked the first anniversary of the China Scientists Museum. Over the past year, the museum has focused on presenting the lives and work of Chinese scientists, while promoting the spirit of scientific pursuit.

A donation and collection ceremony for the museum was held during the event, where certificates of donation and collection were presented to scientists such as Qian Qihu and Wei Jiangchun, as well as to family representatives of scientists including Li Siguang (1889-1971) and Tong Dizhou (1902-1979).

A key moment of the celebration was the premiere of the museum's original micro-film series. Blending elements of stage theater and micro-film, the series is based on real research stories and the museum's collection of cultural relics. It aims to bring science to life and inspire the next generation to pursue careers in research and innovation.

Themed "Determined to Innovate and Develop to Build a Powerful Country in Science and Technology," the event was jointly organized by CAST, Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
