World No. 2 Coco Gauff overcame a rocky serving performance to claim a straight-sets victory over the Czech Republic's Tereza Valentova, prevailing 6-2, 6-4 to reach the third round of the French Open at Roland-Garros on Thursday.

The second-seeded American, a finalist at the Madrid Open and Italian Open earlier this season, faced challenges at the service line, with her serve broken five times during the match – including four in the second set.

The 2023 US Open champion responded by breaking Valentova's serve eight times to seal the victory. The 21-year-old Gauff will face another Czech, Marie Bouzkova, in the third round.
