On May 29, 2025, the "Exploring the World of Baba-Nyonya: A Peranakan Culture Exhibition on the Maritime Silk Road" opened at the Capital Museum in Beijing.
The Baba-Nyonya culture is formed by the intermarriage of early Chinese immigrants with locals in Southeast Asia. Showcasing 132 artifacts, the exhibition uses multimedia and scene restorations to trace the Baba-Nyonya's history, religion, customs, and art—testaments to the blend of Chinese and Southeast Asian cultures.
The show is hosted by the Capital Museum with cultural relic support from the Asian Civilisations Museum and the Peranakan Museum under the National Heritage Board of Singapore. It runs until August 17th.
