Tbilisi deputy mayor aims to deepen ties with Shanghai in key areas

On May 29, the 2025 Shanghai International Friendship Cities Cooperation Forum commenced in Shanghai, featuring the Global Mayors Dialogue Shanghai. Mayors and representatives from 26 of Shanghai's international sister cities across 22 countries gathered along the Huangpu River. Centered on the themes of green, low-carbon, development and innovation, they discussed future-oriented urban exchanges and cooperation.

In recent years, China-Georgia relations have been elevated to a strategic level, with numerous key agreements signed. Andria Basilaia, deputy mayor of Tbilisi, Georgia, expressed hopes for in-depth collaboration between Shanghai and Tbilisi in critical fields such as transportation, urban spatial development, green space development and waste management.
