Chinese badminton stars Chen Yufei and Han Yue battled hard through three games in the women's singles semifinals at the Singapore Open on Saturday, before World No. 5 Chen completed a comeback victory to advance to the final.

Han began the match in better form, and mostly maintained a solid lead, on her way to claiming the first game 21-12. Chen bounced back in the second, with both players working hard for every point, before Chen prevailed 21-15 to force a decider.

The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist kept her momentum going in the third game, attacking with greater aggression while forcing Han into more mistakes. In the end, Chen slammed the door 21-12 to claim a 10th win in 10 matches against her compatriot.

She will face another countrywoman, Wang Zhiyi, in the final, after the World No. 2 fought past Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 21-12, 12-21, 21-17.

In the mixed doubles semifinals, China's Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui had their campaign ended by Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of the Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region) in three games. Tang and Tse survived a close battle in the opener, coming out on top 22-20. Guo and Chen fought back in the second game to prevail 21-19. But they bowed out 21-16 in the decider.

Tang and Tse will meet Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran for the title.
