Located in Heilongjiang Province, Zhalong Nature Preserve is an inland wetland featuring numerous freshwater marshes, streams, swamps and ponds. Established in 1979, the wetland has become home to a large population of a variety of bird species thanks to its eco-friendly environment. Known as the "hometown of red-crowned cranes" in China, the wetland is the world's largest habitat and breeding ground for wild red-crowned cranes. What's more, it's also an important stopover for birds migrating from the Arctic to Southeast Asia.
