Known as the cradle of Chinese civilization, the Yellow River begins its journey on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and flows through nine provinces and autonomous regions before emptying into the Bohai Sea. Its first great bend is located at Tangke Town in Ruoergai County, Sichuan Province.
This unique geographical formation emerged where the Yellow River meets the Baihe River. Natural geological forces blocked the river's southeastward path, causing it to slow down and wind across the vast Ruoergai Grassland, where it formed sweeping bends, scattered islands, and a broad high-altitude wetland.
In April 2023, the scenic area officially opened to the public, inviting visitors to experience its breathtaking natural beauty and ecological richness.
