At the Datong Museum, a collection of captivating blue vessels shimmer with an iridescent glow. These exquisite artifacts were unearthed from tombs dating back to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534) in Datong, Shanxi Province. During the Northern Wei era, cultural and commercial exchanges between East and West thrived. Glassware and glassblowing techniques from the West traveled along the Silk Road to Pingcheng – then the dynasty's capital and now modern-day Datong.
