Standing in the small town of Zhanatas in southern Kazakhstan, 40 wind turbines transform the region's abundant wind resources into clean electricity. The 100-megawatt Zhanatas wind power plant generates approximately 350 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year, saving around 110,000 tonnes of coal compared to traditional power sources. As part of the China-Kazakhstan production capacity cooperation framework, this wind power plant – alongside other key energy projects – represents a significant step in Kazakhstan's transition toward a greener, more sustainable future.
