Zhai Jun, special envoy of the Chinese government on the Middle East issue, visited Egypt from Tuesday to Wednesday, where he met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and other senior officials.
Zhai praised the progress in bilateral ties in recent years, saying that China-Egypt relations have become a model of solidarity, cooperation and mutual benefit between China and developing countries.
He said China is ready to work with Egypt to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, firmly support each other and promote further progress in practical cooperation across various fields.
Zhai also stressed that China values Egypt's role in international and regional affairs and stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination to jointly uphold international fairness and justice.
The Egyptian side highlighted the significant progress in bilateral relations, reaffirming Egypt's firm support for China in safeguarding its core interests and consistent adherence to the one-China principle. They also expressed willingness to enhance high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, and strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs.
Egypt highly appreciated China's long-standing position on hotspot issues such as Palestine and expressed readiness to work with China to uphold multilateralism and contribute to easing tensions both internationally and regionally.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional issues, including the Gaza conflict, as well as situations in Syria, Sudan and the Red Sea.
