Folk music content creator Chu Qi Gui Zi from north China's Tianjin Municipality has fused the sanxian, a three-stringed traditional Chinese lute, with modern music, garnering millions of likes. She learned to play the sanxian at the age of 13 and is currently the inheritor of a large sanxian performance technique – an intangible cultural heritage project of Tianjin's Hedong District.

With the dream of traveling across the country with the sanxian, she has visited Genhe, Harbin, Shanghai, Shenzhen and more than 20 other cities in China, introducing the unique charm of this musical instrument to her audience. Wearing Hanfu with sunglasses and playing electronic dance music on the sanxian, she uses contrast not only as a label for her videos across social media but also as the key to arouse the public's interest in this traditional instrument. Click on the video to watch how she uses the fusion of tradition and modernity to inject new vitality into the traditional Chinese instrument.
