The end of an old era, the rise of a new one

01:13

The U.S.-led liberal world order is fraying. During the interview, Cato Institute's Doug Bandow said that U.S. President Donald Trump may have also upended that order – in his way – but "it was, frankly, time for it to be upended." Originally shaped by a handful of Western powers, the old system has long excluded emerging economies like China, India, Brazil and many others. Now, voices from the Global South are demanding justice, fair opportunities and greater influence. Bandow argues this moment of disruption could also usher in a more balanced and inclusive world order – one that reflects today's multipolar reality.
