Zhang Shuai of China waits for a chance to hit while playing with partner Ellen Perez of Australia against Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia and Olivia Nicholls of Britain in a women's doubles round of 16 match at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Queen's Club in London, Britain, June 11, 2025. /Xinhua
Zhang Shuai of China and Ellen Perez of Australia defeated Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia and Olivia Nicholls of Britain in two tiebreaks 7-6(3), 7-6(5), advancing to the quarterfinals at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Queen's Club in London on Wednesday.
Although Zhang and Perez were broken in the opening game of the match, they quickly battled back with Perez hammering a brilliant overhead smash, en route to the first tiebreak. And when Mihalikova double-faulted on a set point, she and Nicholls watched the third seeds claim the set to grab a 1-0 overall lead.
The second set was just as close and required a tiebreak as well. In the end, Zhang and Perez clinched the victory on another double fault by their European opponents. They will face Timea Babos of Hungary and Luisa Stefani of Brazil in the last eight.
