In 1949, Yan Luoguo, the captain of the Dongshan Island ship, was forcibly taken to Taiwan by the previous KMT regime and was never heard from again. In 1983, his son Yan Dingzhao learned that his father had died in Penghu. In 2018, 82-year-old Yan Dingzhao finally found his father's remains with the help of his father's old friends and their descendants.
