Shanxi Province has unveiled its first underground archaeological cabin, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional excavation. The cabin is located 10 meters beneath the 2,700-year-old Beibaie Cemetery in Yuanqu County, Shanxi. Advanced tools – from imagers to microscopes – have turned the dig site into a high-tech laboratory. Recognized as one of China's major archaeological finds, the Beibaie Cemetery has been under emergency excavation since 2020.
