China's top political advisor Wang Huning met on Sunday with guests from Taiwan region at the 17th Straits Forum held in Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, warmly welcomed the guests, including Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party. He praised the joint efforts to hold the forum and deepen integrated cross-Straits development despite difficulties. Guests expressed willingness to further deepen communication and cooperation between both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
