Since 1983, Xi Zhinong has been a photographer on a mission. Camera in hand, he has crossed snow-capped mountain ranges, deserts, swamps and jungles, capturing intimate images of some of China's rarest wildlife – Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys, snow leopards, black-necked cranes and green peafowl. From young adventurer to silver-haired campaigner, he has spent over 40 years raising public awareness of the need to protect the country's rich biodiversity.
