The 31st Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) opens on June 18 at the China National Convention Center in Beijng, China, June 18, 2025.
The 31st Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) officially opened on June 18 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. This year's edition has drawn a global audience. With 1,700 exhibitors from 80 countries and regions, including nine new participants this year, the fair promises a rich and diverse literary landscape with over 220,000 books on display.
Malaysia, this year's guest of honor, brings a strong delegation focused on fostering Sino-Malaysian literary ties. Domestically, over 600 exhibitors from across China are showcasing their best works for global distribution. Noteworthy additions to the exhibition include specialized zones dedicated to books commemorating historical events and celebrating world cultural heritage.
The BIBF also shines a spotlight on emerging trends. The online publishing hall demonstrates the innovative use of technology like AI and big data in the publishing industry. A brand-new online literature section offers a comprehensive look at China's popular web novel scene. Adding a touch of nostalgia and innovation, the "China Traditional Cultural Story IP Exhibition Area" features beloved tales like "Journey to the West" and "Ne Zha," exploring their potential for adaptation into films, animations and games, including an immersive XR experience of "Journey to the West."
For visitors seeking unique literary experiences, the fair continues to host its popular themed pavilions like the BIBF Picture Book Fair and the BIBF Art Book Fair. This year also sees the introduction of the BIBF SHOP. A special Harry Potter pop-up stop, complete with a Knight Bus, offers fans a magical experience. With its blend of tradition and innovation, BIBF offers something for every book lover and industry professional.
This year's book fair event, themed "Promoting Civilization Inheritance and Development, Advancing Exchange and Mutual Learning for Win-Win Cooperation," will run until June 22.
