Brad Lander, New York City comptroller and Democratic mayoral candidate, was arrested by federal agents at an immigration court on June 17. Lander's office said he was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents while observing immigration hearings.
He was released from custody after New York's Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul went to the courthouse. She left the building with Lander and said charges had been dropped against him.
