Sebastian Driussi scored for River Plate but was injured in the process, Marcos Acuña recorded two assists, and the Argentinian side beat Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds 3-1 in the FIFA Club World Cup at Lumen Field in Seattle on Tuesday.

Driussi's goal three minutes into the second half doubled the South American team's lead to 2-0, but he collided with goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa and fell to the ground in pain, grabbing his ankle. He limped off the field with assistance and was replaced by Miguel Borja. Coach Marcelo Gallardo said after the match that Driussi will undergo testing on the ankle.

Facundo Colidio and Maximiliano Meza also scored for River Plate.

Yusuke Matsuo converted a penalty kick for the Japanese side in the 58th minute. Takuro Kaneko drew the foul while Acuña picked up a yellow card. The kick was delayed by pushing and shoving at the edge of the penalty area, resulting in a yellow for German Pezzella.

Colidio scored in the 12th minute on a header off a cross from Acuña, and Meza restored River Plate's advantage to two goals in the 73rd minute following Acuna's perfectly-placed corner kick.

Franco Armani saved Thiago Santana's strong shot from the center of the box in the 90th minute to preserve the two-goal margin of victory.

Attendance for the noon kickoff was announced at 11,974 while Lumen Field has a capacity of 68,740. Both teams had a significant fan presence for their Group E opener, but only a smattering of locals showed up at the cavernous NFL and MLS venue.

Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense play to scoreless draw

Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense played out a 0-0 draw in rainy conditions at the Club World Cup, before a crowd of just under half-capacity at New Jersey's 82,500-seat MetLife Stadium that heavily favored the team from Brazil.

Fluminense's best scoring chance came in the 58th minute, but Agustín Canobbio's left-footed shot from the center of the box was saved by Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.

Newly-signed Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, made his debut for Dortmund in the 59th minute as a substitute for Pascal Gross.

American midfielder Gio Reyna dressed for the German side but did not play.

The crowd of 34,763 was tilted toward Fluminense, with fans waving flags and loudly cheering on the South American team.

Dortmund qualified for the Club World Cup with a top-four finish in the Bundesliga, while Fluminense advanced as the 2023 Copa Libertadores champions.

The Brazilian team played more aggressively, with a 14-7 advantage in shots. Their German opponents held the possession advantage at 54.5 percent.

Fluminense goalkeeper Fabio preserved the draw in the fourth minute of stoppage time after saving Niklas Süle's shot from outside the box.

The draw left the two teams tied for first place in Group F. Dortmund's next game will be on Saturday against South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns in Cincinnati, while Fluminense will take on South Korean side Ulsan at MetLife Stadium.
