China opened the latest leg of this year's FIVB Women's Nations League campaign with a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Czech Republic in the Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region) on Wednesday.
The hosts committed a number of errors in a tightly-contested first set, but pulled away in the end to claim the frame 29-27.
The second set saw the Czechs respond fiercely, and display impressive skills on defense, en route to leveling the match by a margin of 25-23.
China made a series of adjustments and dominated the next two sets 25-15 and 25-22, wrapping up the contest in four sets.
Wu Mengjie stood out for China with a match-high 25 points, while Zhuang Yushan added 21, and Wang Yuanyuan contributed 15.
China will face Bulgaria on Thursday evening, looking to claim a second straight win in the Hong Kong SAR.
