China opposes any country's provocative actions in relevant waters of the Taiwan Straits in the name of "freedom of navigation," said a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday.

The Taiwan question bears on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, said Guo Jiakun at a regular press briefing.

Guo said that China respects countries' lawful right to navigation in the Straits, but firmly opposes any country making provocations or threatening China's sovereignty and security in the name of "freedom of navigation."
