Today, Janjira Ananchaipattana runs six popular Thai restaurants in Kunming; it's a far cry from 26 years ago, when Thai food was a "novelty" in the Spring City. /CGTN
Twenty-six years ago, when chef Janjira Ananchaipattana arrived in Kunming from Chiang Mai, Thai cuisine was a novelty in China's "Spring City". With the approach of the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations, Janjira Ananchaipattana wanted to do something special to thank her loyal customers and friends. So, she hosted a "Friendship Long-table Banquet" featuring authentic Thai food – along with a special fusion dish she'd developed herself.
