Today, Janjira Ananchaipattana runs six popular Thai restaurants in Kunming; it's a far cry from 26 years ago, when Thai food was a "novelty" in the Spring City. /CGTN

Twenty-six years ago, when chef Janjira Ananchaipattana arrived in Kunming from Chiang Mai, Thai cuisine was a novelty in China's "Spring City". Today, she owns six restaurants there, as the local people have come to love the hot and sour flavors of her home country. With the approach of the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations, Janjira Ananchaipattana wanted to do something special to thank her loyal customers and friends. So, she hosted a "Friendship Long-table Banquet" featuring authentic Thai food – along with a special fusion dish she'd developed herself.
