Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addresses the 51st Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul, Türkiye, June 21, 2025. /VCG
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Saturday said Israel is dragging the region into "total disaster" with its attacks on Iran. He made the comments during the opening ceremony of the foreign ministers' meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul.
Stressing that Israel's aggression must be stopped, Fidan said that the region had an "Israel problem," referring to its attacks on Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iran.
Türkiye is ready to shoulder its responsibilities, he said, urging Israel to immediately stop its illegal attacks on Iran.
He also called on the international community to restrain Israel and prevent the conflict from spiraling into a wider conflict.
