Jude Bellingham and Arda Güler scored first-half goals as Real Madrid shrugged off an early red card to defeat Pachuca 3-1 in Charlotte, taking a big step toward the knockout stage at the Club World Cup on Sunday.

Seven minutes in, defender Raul Asencio received a red card, forcing Real Madrid to play the remainder of the match with 10 men. It hardly mattered as Los Blancos dominated the Mexican side rest of the way, giving Xabi Alonso his first win as coach of the Spanish powerhouse.

Bellingham got Real on the board in the 35th minute, taking a pass from Fran Garcia just inside the box and belting a perfectly placed left-footed shot into the right corner past goalkeeper Carlos Moreno.

Eight minutes later, Güler made it 2-0 for the team from Madrid, delivering a right-footed shot from the center of the box into the bottom left corner off a pass from Gonzalo García. Federico Valverde put the final touches on the win in the second half, with his sliding right-footed effort following a well-placed pass from Brahim Díaz.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was in form with five saves in the first half. Elías Montiel ended the Belgian shot-stopper's bid for a shutout when he scored in the 80th minute for Pachuca, who fell to 0-for-2 in pool play.

In Philadelphia, Kenan Yildiz scored two goals and had a hand in another as Juventus beat Wydad Casablanca 4-1.

The Turkish international forward was unlucky not to be credited with Juve's early opener, which officially went down as an own goal by Abdelmounaim Boutouil.

There was no doubt that Yildiz was the scorer of the second, however, after unleashing a tremendous strike from outside the box.

Thembinkosi Lorch pulled one back for Wydad before the break, but Yildiz added his second of the afternoon in the 69th minute, before Dusan Vlahovic's late penalty sealed the victory for the Italian giants.

After opening with a 5-0 win over UAE side Al-Ain, Juventus have now scored nine goals and claimed the maximum six points from their first two outings in Group G.

Later in the day, Ilkay Gundogan scored two goals as Manchester City comfortably dispatched Al-Ain 6-0 in Atlanta, easing into the knockout phase from Group G alongside Juventus.

The German midfielder found the net in the ninth and 73rd minutes, while Argentinian teenager Claudio Etcheverri also fired in a free kick, and Erling Haaland converted a penalty before the break.

Substitutes Oscar Bobb and new signing Rayan Cherki sealed the emphatic victory in the last 10 minutes, bringing City level on goal difference with Juve.

Man City and Juventus are set to meet in Orlando on Thursday, in the final match in pool play for both teams. The result will decide which squad progresses into the round of 16 as group winners.
