Israel and Iran traded fire overnight on Tuesday, unleashing salvos of missiles in the final moments leading up to a ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Israel's military said six waves of missiles were launched by Iran, and Israel's Magen David Adom rescue service said four people were killed in Beersheba, the first reported deaths in Israel since Trump announced the ceasefire late on Monday.

Explosions also continued to rock Tehran overnight, with blasts in the north and center of the Iranian capital.

Nine people were killed early Tuesday in Israeli strikes on residential buildings in northern Iranian province of Gilan, deputy provincial governor told Tasnim News Agency.

Iran's SNN news agency reported on Tuesday that Tehran fired its last round of missiles before the ceasefire came into effect.

When the ceasefire between Israel and Iran took effect, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that "THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!"

According to Israel's airports authority, Israel has reopened its airspace.
