Iranian state media announced Tuesday that a ceasefire has been "imposed on the enemy" following a missile strike on a U.S. base in Qatar, Tehran's military response to the U.S. aggression.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified that no formal ceasefire deal exists with Israel, but added that Iran will halt its attacks if Israel ceases what he termed "illegal aggression" by 4 a.m. local time.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete and total" ceasefire, calling it the end of the "12‑day war."

This diplomatic pause follows U.S. military strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, actions that triggered Tehran's threats of retaliation and raised concerns that U.S. bases across the region could become targets.

Where are U.S. military bases in the Middle East?

As mapped above, the Council on Foreign Relations reports the U.S. maintains a wide network of installations – ranging from long-term bases to temporary sites – throughout the Middle East.
