China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Tuesday issued both rainstorm and heat alerts, as parts of the country's southwestern regions, including Sichuan and Guizhou provinces, face heavy rainfall, while northern parts, including Beijing and Tianjin, experience high temperatures.
The NMC continued a blue alert for heavy rain at 6 a.m., predicting that till 8 a.m. on Wednesday, regions including northwest China's Gansu and Shaanxi provinces, southwest China's Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan provinces and Xizang Autonomous Region, as well as central China's Hunan Province, will experience heavy rainfall. Severe convective weather such as thunderstorms and strong winds are forecast to take place in some of these areas.

A yellow alert for high temperatures was also maintained. It is predicted that during the daytime on Tuesday, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Henan Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Guangdong and Fujian provinces will see temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius.
In certain areas, such as Beijing's southern districts, Tianjin, and parts of Hebei, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, temperatures could reach 37 to 39 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
Citizens are advised to take precautions against both the heavy rainfall and extreme heat in the coming days.
