Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with heads of foreign delegations attending the 20th meeting of the Security Council Secretaries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States in Beijing on Tuesday.

Han said that the Global Security Initiative, proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security have gained recognition and support from an increasing number of countries.

China stands ready to work with other member states of the SCO to uphold multilateralism for lasting security, adhere to the spirit of the rule of law for mutual benefit and win-win results, uphold equality and solidarity to pursue common governance, enhance cooperation and capacity building, and give further play to the role of the SCO in maintaining security and stability in a world fraught with uncertainties and instabilities, said Han.

Representatives from the foreign delegations expressed their high appreciation for China's important role in holding the rotating presidency of the SCO and their willingness to address security challenges with joint efforts.
