U.S. President Donald Trump said that a "complete and total" ceasefire between Israel and Iran will go into force with a view to ending the conflict between the two nations, moments after both sides threatened new attacks.
A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran had agreed to the U.S.-proposed ceasefire. Qatari prime minister also confirmed the plan, saying he had obtained Iran's approval of the U.S. ceasefire proposal in a phone call, according to Reuters.
Iran's National Security Council confirmed it had attacked a major U.S. military base in Qatar on Monday in retaliation for American strikes on its nuclear facilities, adding its response did not "pose any threat" to its Gulf neighbor.
