The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Tuesday that sirens had sounded in several areas of Israel following the identification of missiles launched from Iran.

"The public is requested to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command. At this time, the IAF (Israeli Air Force) is operating to intercept and strike where necessary to eliminate the threat. The defense is not hermetic, therefore, it is essential to continue following the instructions of the Home Front Command," the military said in a statement on social media.

Earlier, Iran's state broadcaster IRIB reported a ceasefire had been agreed.

Before the report, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there was no agreement on a ceasefire, but Tehran would halt attacks if Israel stopped its "illegal aggression" by 4 a.m. local time (0030 GMT).
