Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on Wednesday said that China hopes Iran and Israel can reach a "sustained and effective" ceasefire. His remarks came after Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke over the phone with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on June 24. Wang called for a genuine ceasefire to push for an early de-escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
