First-time visitors to the Chinese mainland from the Taiwan region will not have to pay the travel permit fee from July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027.
The announcement was made by Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, during a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday.
The decision was made by the Chinese Ministry of Finance, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Immigration Administration (NIA) to further facilitate cross-straits exchanges and cooperation.
Zhu added that the specific policy will be implemented by the NIA.
