Forty years after "Police Story" (1985) debuted, its iconic trilogy – "Police Story 2" (1988) and "Police Story 3: Super Cop" (1992) – has been digitally restored in 4K resolution by Italy's L'Immagine Ritrovata, and screened at this year's Shanghai International Film Festival.
A hallmark of Hong Kong cinema, Jackie Chan's films thrill audiences with their daring stunts, improvisation, and humor. The Police Story series, in particular, redefined action filmmaking through Chan's fearless physicality and inventive set pieces.
As part of the festival's tribute to the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema, the restored trilogy drew packed crowds. Fans old and new relished the chance to experience Chan's timeless classics in crystal-clear 4K – proof that great action never fades.
