China says defense and security cooperation has played a vital role in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)'s development, and the Chinese military is stepping up exchanges with member states on multiple fronts. At a press briefing in Beijing on Thursday, the Ministry of National Defense highlighted China's active role in the SCO's security efforts. Spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang said the Chinese side has taken part in strategic dialogues, hosted joint exercises, and launched seminars for young scholars, strengthening professional exchanges and building trust among member militaries.
