Canada has announced the implementation of new tariff rate quotas for steel mill imports from countries that do not have free trade agreements with it. These quotas will impose a 50-percent surtax on steel imports exceeding 2024 levels, effective from Friday.
This comes as the United States has cut off trade talks with Canada after Ottawa confirmed it will proceed with its plan to impose a digital services tax on U.S. technology firms.
