The Longxing Temple Urban Renewal Project in Pengzhou, Chengdu, has won the Popular Choice Award at the 2025 Architizer A+Awards, known as the "Oscars of Architecture."
Beijing Institute of Architectural Design breathed new life into the site – once a rundown neighborhood – blending centuries-old Sichuan heritage with modern design. Constructed by the China State Construction Third Engineering Bureau, the project uses AI monitoring, prefabricated steel structures, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to restore ancient styles with new craftsmanship.
Recognized as a national pilot, it showcases China's approach to urban renewal that respects the past and embraces the future.
