On April 2, the U.S. launched a global tariff war, imposing a 10 percent baseline tariff on all countries and even steeper "reciprocal tariffs" on select partners - some nearing 50 percent. Amid market turmoil, Washington suspended most tariffs for 90 days, with the baseline rate staying in place until July 9. Now, as the 90-day pause nears its end, Washington's vow of "90 deals in 90 days" lies in tatters, but the damage has already been done. CGTN is launching "The Tariff Boomerang II" which takes a hard look at the consequences of U.S. tariffs and reveals why this tariff war – meant to deliver a knockout punch – has instead circled back like an economic boomerang.
