Kao Chin Su-mei sharply criticizes Lai Ching-te: Colonial mentality and dictatorial thoughts are unacceptable

01:17

Kao Chin Su-mei, a non-partisan representative of ethnic minority groups from Taiwan region, criticized Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te's so-called "10 lectures on unity" campaign. She pointed out that Lai, with an arrogant colonial mentality, posed as an anthropologist and presumptuously tried to define the origins of indigenous peoples, their language families and even whom they should befriend – a conduct she deemed deeply inappropriate and disqualifying. She also denounced the toxic atmosphere within Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), accusing it of upholding authoritarian thinking. She said that anyone whose views differ from those of the DPP is forced to be "torn down and rebuilt" and can no longer find a foothold in Taiwan, calling the situation "utterly unacceptable."
