Southwest China's Sichuan Province activated rainstorm warnings and emergency flood responses on Sunday, as heavy rainfall swept across multiple regions through Monday morning.
According to the local weather department, all cities in the Sichuan Basin experienced rain showers or thunderstorms from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday, with some areas hit by torrential rain.
As of Sunday night, a total of 29,142 residents in 57 county-level regions across the province had been relocated to safe areas in advance. No casualties have been reported so far.
The large-scale rainfall also triggered mountain torrent warnings in Sichuan and neighboring Chongqing Municipality and Yunnan Province.
