Beijing Guoan extended their unbeaten run and reclaimed first place in the Chinese Super League (CSL) standings, following a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Yunnan Yukun on Monday.
Despite falling behind in the first half, following a close-range finish from Yunnan forward Ye Chugui, Guoan mounted a strong response in the second half. Fabio Abreu equalized in the 55th minute, capitalizing on a pass from Zhang Yuning, who later earned a penalty that Zhang Xizhe converted to seal the win.
The match marked Guoan's 400th appearance at the Workers Stadium in Beijing. The victory moved the Capital Club level with Shanghai Shenhua with 38 points, and back into the top spot on goal difference.
Elsewhere, two-time defending champions Shanghai Port tallied a late winner to beat Shenzhen Peng City 2-1 on the road.
In the ninth minute, Li Ning opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Li Xinxiang fired in a stunning long-range strike from the edge of the box in the 63rd minute to level the match. The turnaround was sealed when Leonardo found the net to wrap up the comeback victory for the side from Shanghai in the 77th minute.
The result extended Port's unbeaten league run to seven games, and they remain fourth in the table. Shenzhen suffered their third straight defeat.
Meanwhile, Shandong Taishan squandered a two-goal lead and settled for a 2-2 draw at Henan. In the first half, Zeca scored twice for Shandong. After the break, Felippe Cardoso pulled one back for Henan with a header. The Brazilian then converted a penalty kick after Frank Acheampong was fouled in the box.
In the day's other match, Dalian Yingbo beat Zhejiang 1-0 at home. Cephas Malele broke the deadlock with a 42nd-minute header, and Dalian held on to earn three points, climbing back into the top ten in the standings. The outcome also ended Zhejiang's three-match unbeaten streak, as they dropped to ninth.
