The South China tiger is China's only native tiger subspecies and one of the most endangered in the world, with just around 250 animals left nationwide. China's largest rewilding training base for the species has officially begun operations in Meihua Mountain in Fujian Province. This week, two adult tigers will be moved into a semi-wild adaptation zone – a key step in helping them develop survival instincts.
